As we end a successful 2023/24
season our focus quickly turns to getting ready for the 2024/25 season with
tryouts starting Wednesday April 17th for U15 & U18,
with the younger age groups to follow throughout the next week.
We are
excited to get the new season underway and hope that you feel the same. While
teams were participating in playoffs, playdowns and provincials your Tryout Committee
has been busy getting prepared for the tryouts and there are a few things that
we wanted to let you know. Please be sure to read all the points below so that
you are ready to navigate through the tryouts.
- You
should have received an email today from the Tryout Committee stating
which group and time your daughter is to attend for the first skate.
Please check your junk folder prior to contacting the Tryout Committee, if
you did not receive it.
- While the
executive has done their best to be sure the tryouts run smoothly there
may be issues such as schedule changes that come up throughout the
process. Please be sure to check the Huron Heat web site frequently to
keep up to date with any changes that may occur. Once you are on the site,
select the Team Finder and choose the appropriate team for you player.
- The Team
Calendar will show the up-to-date schedule for the team. It is important
to remember that if/when your daughter gets released from T1 tryouts that
there may be T2 tryouts that she wishes to participate in. If that is the
case, you would need to check the calendar for the T2 team.
- Again
this year, we will be using the Tryout module on our web site. When each
player signs in at their first tryout, they will be assigned a jersey
number which is their tryout number for the duration of tryouts. The
tryout number will be available under the Tryout Player List on the team
page. This number will be used to let you know if you are continuing with
tryouts with T1 or released to the T2 team/tryout. If you are continuing
tryouts with a team, then this number will also be used to tell you what team
your daughter will be on when playing games (either intra squad games or
exhibition games against other teams).
- The first
two skates of the tryouts for all age groups will be Inter-Squad
games. Those handing out jerseys when you arrive will let you know
which team you are on, Blue or Grey. Please note, the jersey’s are
double sided, so have your player flip the jersey to which colour you are
told.
- Please
arrive 45 minutes prior to your timeslot to ensure enough time for
collecting your jersey and making your tryout payment
- Please
remember that the tryout fee is $80 and is payable when you arrive for
your first skate. Payment can be made by cash or cheque, but no
e-transfers will be accepted.
- Those
skaters coming from other female hockey associations, must bring their Permission to
Tryout.
- Last but
not least, we all know that tryout season can be stressful on all those
involved. Please be patient with everyone helping with the tryout
process and remember we are all volunteers trying to make your experience
the best it can be.
We are looking forward to getting
prepared for next season and want to wish everyone luck during the tryout
process. If you have any questions, please reach out to the tryout committee at
[email protected].
