Sabres Excel In 3rd To Overcome Heat
In game 2 of the Provincial Playdowns the Heat held a 2-1 lead half way into the 3rd period against a solid South Huron Sabres team, but could not hold them off as they netted 4 unanswered goals in the last half of the final period, one being an empty netter. Hailee Masse opened the scoring early with a breakaway deke on a pass from Kristen Scott. The Sabres responded 30 seconds later to even things up at one. Lindsay Merner banged in a rebound on a goalmouth scramble from Masse & Ava Overholt to put the Heat up 2-1 until the Sabres exploded late in the 3rd for the win. Olivia Wightman made some nice stops in between the pipes.
Other than a couple mistakes it was a good overall game for the girls. They will need to stay positive and keep their compete level up for a very important game 3 of the provincial playdowns this Saturday in Zurich at 12:00pm vs Lucknow.
