Heat & Inferno Tie 2-2 in Game One Of WOGHL Division 2 Championship Finals
By Marty Merner on Mar 21, 2017 (1076 views)
It was a well played game by both teams in Seaforth Tuesday night as the girls battled to a 2-2 tie vs the West Oxford Inferno. The Heat may have had a few more scoring chances, but couldn't connect. West Oxford opened the scoring to go up 1-0 after the first period. The locals responded with 2 in the second on goals by Kailey Hallahan and Lindsay Merner, assisted by Kristen Scott, Ava Overholt and Sami Regier to take a 2-1 after two. The Inferno found the net part way through the 3rd to tie it up at 2 and there would be no more. That means no matter who wins this Saturday in Embro there will ...

Heat 1 Goal Shy Of Qualifying For Provincials
By Marty Merner on Mar 08, 2017 (729 views)
The girls played their hearts out, outplaying the St. Mary's Rock for most of the game, but the Rock hung on for a 1-1 tie. With South Huron & Lucknow tying their game earlier, the Heat needed the 2 point win to qualify for Provincials, but fell just short. It was a tough one to take, but the girls should be proud of themselves for their effort and the way they played. They were also very classy in the process. The Rock opened the scoring part way through the 2nd, before the Heat battled back with one minute left in the second to tie it, but couldn't put another one by the Rock tender in the ...
Heat Streak Halted By Inferno
By Marty Merner on Mar 06, 2017 (595 views)
The girls 5 game winning streak in WOGHL Playoff action was ended tonight by the West Oxford Inferno 3-1. It was do or die for the Inferno, win and keep playing or lose and be done for the year. You could tell on the ice as they came out fired up scoring the first goal. The Heat responded in the 2nd and 3rd playing a much better last 2 periods. Hailee Masse tied it up after a nice breakaway pass from Hailee Brown. The score stayed tied until the 4 min mark of the 3rd when West Oxford went up by 1 then scored another into the empty net. The Heat will now play the Inferno in the WOGHL Division ...
Solid Team Effort Leads To 6-0 Win Over Lancers
By Marty Merner on Mar 04, 2017 (765 views)
The girls were very impressive today in Lambeth as the rolled over the Lancers by a score of 6-0. It was no doubt their most complete effort of the season from puck drop till game end. All three lines moved the puck well and thought about plays before they made them, whether it be D to D, F to D or head man passes. they battled hard and never let up all game. It was great to see all the smart 'hockey plays' everyone was making.
